Constructed from simply supported Factory produced Prestressed Concrete beams in conjunction with an in-situ structurally reinforced concrete screed. Specifically developed for farm access, private bridges to factories, housing estates, and country parks etc. ideal for short to medium spans. Beam profile normally channel or Tee in section depending on the span and loads imposed by vehicular traffic. Shorter bridge decks can be supplied using prestressed flat slabs. A particular feature of this form of construction is that the formwork and building skills necessary to complete the deck once in position are minimal and fall within the scope of a Local Contractor or Direct Works Department. Water pipes and services may be positioned in the trough between the ribbed units offering protection and concealment. Kerbs can also be cast integral with the deck onto which handrails can be positioned, handrails can be supplied in various forms from galvanised steel, aluminium, or timber. Handrails can also be fixed directly to the concrete deck.
